Dag 12193 – Generative Landscape, Paris 07-01-2015

All sounds in this generative piece have as their source two videos of the Charlie Hebdo attacks that are circulating online. No other sounds were used. The goal of this piece is to generate beauty out of something ugly, and speak out for freedom of enquiry and expression.

In the face of such ignorant violence, there are only a few things an artist can do.

1. Protest openly, and urge the government to do likewise and come down hard on anyone who uses force against equality and freedom of expression.
2. Don`t budge. Keep criticising and asking questions whereever necessary.
3. Encourage critical thinking, to free ourselves from totalitarian ideologies and religion.
4. Use your art to speak out.
